THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM OUR TREASURER, WHO JUST RETURNED FROM A TRIP TO THE MEETING OF THE MINDS IN KEY WEST, AN ANNUAL EVENT FOR NATION WIDE PARROTHEADS:

Charlie, Eric and I have just returned from Meeting Of The Minds, the national Parrot Head Conference in Key West, Florida. This is a yearly event and I just want to tell you about the conference and urge yopu to attend next year, November 3rd through 7th, 2010.

The event got underway on Wednesday with live music all day pool side at the host hotel, followed by some parties hosted by Parrot Head Clubs from around the country at various venues, then it's a big welcome party at The Hog's Breath Saloon. Thursday includes sessions on various leadership activities, and of couse lot more fantastic music on the beach and pool side, this starts at 11 am and concludes at 11 PM, then it is time to do the Duval Crawl. Friday was the Margaritaville Street Festival right outside Jimmy's Margaritaville, and then in the evening lots of parties at various bars. Saturday morning at 8 AM was the Zonta Walk for Cancer, our club was honored as the biggest fund raisers, thanks to lots of people donating in Robin's name. Then it was a Beach Party statring at 1 PM and lasting till 11 PM, and then it was back to Duval Street. Sunday, the event concluded with a "No Plane on Saunday Party" and this year a new event featuring a Gumbo Party with The Sauce Boss.
We would be happy to share information about lodging , transportation and costs with you, just give a shout.

Rich Romano

A SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SECRETARY AMY FOR PUTTING TOGETHER A LAST MINUTR BEACH CLEAN UP FOR OUR SUTTON STREET BEACH ACCESS ON 11/21.
WE HAD A DECENT TURN OUT FOR A SUNDAY MORNING, PICKING UP LOADS OF STORM DEBRIS AND LOTS OF BAGS OF TRASH., THANKS AMY.!

BELOW IS A MESSAGE TO ALL PARROTHEADS FROM THE FLORIDA'S TOY DRIVE CHAIRMAN:

Hello Phriends,

Please stand up and give yourselves a huge round of applause or pat yourselves on the back. The Salvation Army told me this was the best toy drive they had in the last three years. And you guessed it, I could not have done it without all of you wonderful Parrot Heads from all our gratious regions.

It was my first chair position to hold for MOTM. I have to admit that when I arrived on Wednesday and heard there was a package waiting for me at the Casa, I knew the Toy Drive was in the hands of the right people. Yes, Parrot Heads!

Thursday morning came quick and I was excited to get to the Casa. I felt almost as excited as the numerous kids who we will have put smiles on faces of. When I arrived, the first toy box I was given was the one which I was told about, and to my excited eyes, I realized it traveled from San Francisco to Key West. Hats off to the Latitude 38 PHC for the furthest received toys. This just confirmed that Parrot Heads are the best people! Parrot Heads are so much more than party-goers, we are helpers, donaters, charitable contributors, and the people my parents should have raised me after.

When Saturday arrived and I got to look at all those boxes of toys the elPHs had provided I knew it was a success. Then the final touch was added when Miss Barbara, a spokesperson for the Salvation Army, gave her touching speech during the general business meeting.

As the Toy Drive concluded and we made several trips to load toys into the box van, the driver stated how shocked he was with the amount of toys us Parrot Heads had donated.

With all this being said, I thank each and every Parrot Head and club for their kind donation.

Just remember that with your help some child will have the excitement of unwrapping gifts on Christmas.

Thanks again to all the ELPH's!
Enthusiastic Loving Parrot Heads

With all proceeds going to the
Outer Banks Relief Foundation

WAS HELD AT THE HILTON GARDEN INN'S
OCEAN FRONT PIER HOUSE, LOCATED
IN kITTY HAWK, NC
FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2009

Wow!, is my first reaction! I have never in a very, very long time, experienced a group of overwhelming people, with open minds and open hearts, giving with generosity, such caring people making for a fantastic and wonderful fun time.!! We exceeded our goals for this event and have many to thank for their efforts:

The Hilton Garden Inn
The Hilton's management and staff, that responded, cared for our every need with open arms taking note of tiny little details that aided in our success!
Grey's Dept Store,
Henry's,
The CAr Wash,
OBX Showcase,
Perry Glass,
Stackem High,
>>BRUCE TODD<< For his music contribution
Randy Gill , for his help as M>C> !
Laura Wolke for doing the 50/50! ! great job!
Barbara for the center piece work, perfect for the season
Sterling Services for the chicken wings
v-p Peggy for her decorating, getting and putting the raffle items out for display
the Boys for working the door so our reg members could work the crowd!
just to mention a few, and lots more that will be getting written thank you's in the mail from us and will also be posted on our web site.

This event brought a lot of different people from various groups together, and showed this OBX what can happen when we all pull together. I personally can not say thank you enough to all those who pitched in and made this a success!
The only negative thing that was brought to my attention, there was no cheese for the burgers., well cheese was not on our menu, as Robin did not like cheese and had allergies, so cheese was not permitted for her fund raiser...hope that little detail cleared things up...so it was a perfect event, complete with the humpback whale and her baby giving us a nice show at the end of the pier.., and a loggerhead playing under the pier!
Again thanks to all, Sincerely,

St. Patty's Day Parade March 15th

A lot of effort went into this project and all was appreciated. The weather was about as bad as it gets for an outside event and our sales reflected in the lack of visitors..
We did our part and will try again next time. But there was still Fun mixed in too! Again Thanks for all that helped on this one!

BEACH ROAD CLEAN UP WAS HELD FEB 21ST!!

They picked up so much trash, they had to empty bags in construction dumpsters and re-fill them.,.
A great big thank you goes to the four people that showed up for this and to the chairman, Eric and three helpers Robin, Gary and Michelle., we did have several people call in sick.., hope to have a better turn out next time ! ! !

Jan, our friend with Northern Virginia Parrothead Club is asking for our help once again:

It's that time of year again: my annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is just around the corner (May 2-3).

My training has started and I am anxious to get started with my fundraising! Once again, I have pledged to raise a minimum of $1800. Your contribution will help to support medical research into the possible causes of and cure for breast cancer, education and early detection programs, and clinical care and support servies for men and women with breast cancer in communities across the country.

It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. I know we are experiencing tough times with the economy. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Thank you for your support; you really do make a difference.
